A Few Favorite Yuks
I like to draw, I think we all know that much. I have a harder time writing - which is probably why I'm not published more than I'd like to be. People want to laugh before they want to think. About art. Anyway, I like making the art more than I like making the joke. I'm working on it though! I've even started to write jokes down, as opposed to forcefully trying to remember them out of my head 15 minutes before deadline.
Here are a few of my favorite published New Yorker cartoons. Some really fun art - and few decent gags - in there.
I once had this idea of using the same couple over again in my cartoons. Sorta like an elderly, rich and pretentious The Lockhorns. It never really caught on, but after several resubmits, this one hit. I'm mostly pumped that I got our dog, Lulu into a New Yorker cartoon.
A while back they did an "all-Trump cartoon issue" and a bunch of us got some good jabs in. This was, of course, before he won and everything turned black and nothing was funny anymore.
I truly believe this will be an actual thing someday.
Palm trees. I like to draw them... Is what I'll say when they put me away for Trump PTSD.
If you're interested owning a print of one of these, or any other of the cartoons I've had published, check out the Conde Nast store. They have all kinds of stuff to buy with my art on it.
